The longest campaign

We started our First World War aerial campaign in November 2001, and finished three years later. Actually, we fought in real time the aerial war from 1915 to 1918, one game per historical week.

The number of games, players, planes, kills and aces was phenomenal. Below we present a small taste of the long and arduous path to final glory. Images from the very first games, and the last ever game. To celebrate the armistice of 1918 a bottle of champagne was donated by the German team to those who "won the war"... In our campaign however, the Germans were true masters of the skies, shooting down their French opponents in demoralising numbers

We used 1/72 model aeroplanes and the freely available Canvas Eagles rules.
